Grandma Peaches   Leave a comment

Oh! Hello! I’m Grandma Peaches. It’s very nice to meet you. Come over here and look out at the beautiful scene across the hills to the mountains in the far distance. I often come here when I need a little solitude. Although my husband is gone now, I’ve stayed right here in the same house for nearly 50 years.

This is a quiet and small town we live in. Everyone knows everyone else. If someone needs anything, another pitches in and helps them. I remember once, we almost ran out of cakes for the cake sale. One of the ladies ran home and made some more and that kept us going.

I became the babysitter when moms had to go somewhere. One day a couple of the children called me Grandma Peaches. And it has stuck to this day. To keep the children occupied, I began coming up with things for them to do. One nice day
they helped me plant some seeds. Then I said we must keep them watered so they well grow. Nearly every day they would come check on them to see how they were doing.

Later we’re going to pull weeds out of the garden. I do hope they remember to wear old clothes. Children love to play in the dirt. Although, they do stick to business.

I must go in now and do a few things. They will be here after a while and I want to be ready for them.

(To be continued)
