Chaotic World ( Cont’d )   8 comments

Life is much more hectic now than it used to be. Now days, it a much different story. More mom than ever are working just to help meet monthly expenses. It takes two incomes no for most families to survive. Mom and dad do overlapping jobs both at home and at work. Mom needs dad’s help at home with the cleaning, laundry, meal pre paring, etc. Dad needs mom’s help with bringing in an income so they can have the above.
This puts stress on both parents. It adds to their already full and hectic lives. There is so much more to do. Then, each one starts to worry and wonder how they are going to manage things. When dad used to be able to come home and enjoy the evening paper, now he finds himself helping mom with the clean-up after supper. Then, help the children with their homework. By then, he helps mom get them to bed.
While all this is happening, mom is busy in the kitchen checking the freezer to make sure there is something for dinner the next evening. She can’t wait on the laundry or she will never get done. After the laundry is washed, it must be dried and put away. Later, both fall into bed totally exhausted.
And, what about when dad and mom are at work? Always, in the backs of their minds, are the kids ok?; do they need me for anything?; The manufactured what if’s. What if one gets hurt and I must leave work? How will my boss feel? This is a continual list that just keeps growing. And more and more employers are getting harder on employees when family matters come up.
I have yet to understand this. Used to, we worked together more. However, now days, it almost makes me feel like each one thinks the other is out to get him. What a negative way to live. There are those times when all we need is to cut each other some slack. If we do, they will remember it and do the same for us when we need it.
